CHARLOTTE, NC

...there's a place in charlotte called the evening muse and it is a cool room, nice acoustics and well run - when I knew this trip was coming up I asked them if they had anything and Lea was super - found me a little spot and set me up. So after a little face time in chapel hill, a little rest, I head for the muse. I get there late - around 6 pm, and as I am pulling up I see one of the other guys on the bill pull up and he gives me a hand with a guitar and we head in... I am on first so I get all set up, put in the 5 guitars, the amp - my usual stage show - and I tune it up and get ready... there is no one in the place - a few people, but nothing to speak of and I am pretty used to it so no worries.

In the meantime a few other guys show up...

CHATTANOOGA...

the myspace crowd - and they are 20 and 21 and so squeaky it's funny. I didn't care who I got pared with since I am just travelin' thru, so I do my show... a few people come in and it's generally ok, but it's always a challenge to play to an empty room so I do a decent show, close with a tune called "thinking of you" ... by now the place is filling up a little and it is an odd selection of teen smudge, some with parents, some by themselves and giggly and giddy.... that's the myspace crowd for these guys, all of whom are around 21, and they do their show and it's ok - certainly respectable... and very unoriginal. This is new for me, I usually get paired with a bit more seasoned players, so it's a trip to be in the children's section...but it's all good and soon I head for the motel...
