| ...there's one area I've never played through and on this trip I'm doing it... dave and I play whitlow's in arlington, virginia, finish at 2am... and I am on the road to chapel hill, then to charlotte, about ten hours away total... well that plan crashes when we get back to my house in kalorama and pass out - then off at 8am in the morning which is a much better time frame... Whitlow's is cool, but it isn't the best format for original music since it's sort of a real cover room... but Nadim the manager and the guy who books the room is a metal player and he is really appreciative of the stuff dave and I do...and that's cool... we more often than not ust remove the bullshit and hit the changes hard and tight... |

...I get into Chapel hill around 1 the next afternoon and it is amazing what a huge difference a day drive is... night road is like reading a good novel - plenty to think about and the headlights are like bright searchlights, illuminating the morse code hidden in the white dashes of the center divider, reading messages in the dark clouds, the sunsets and moonrises and writing sonds as little snippets weave back and forth in my mind sparked by a certain tree, a cool truckstop, and he endless variety of road people who inhabit the highway landscape make for an endless sea of choice material from which to choose from... no oine on this run but me, since the dude is on location out shooting another movie... |
