A NIGHTMARE

my left eye is now so swollen and painful that it looks like I am constantly crying and the pain is so intense it sweeps over me in waves... it is so bad I am in the bathroom pounding my fist on the sink... we are all set up, no time for a sound check but we head out to the local drugstore and grab some eyedrops and some painkillers and it still feels like raw #10 sandpaper on the left eyeball... we get back to the club and it is packed... and this is a rowdy, rockin' crowd so I gotta do the show... I hit the stage at 9:30 and I am in such intense pain that it's a blur and I just rip thru the songs one after the other with such intensity that it makes the crowd just go nuts and two hours later I take a break and go outside... drugged out but playing the show...

THE EMERGENCY RM

by now the place is so packed that you can't move and people have never heard this style before and it is an amazing response... so I come back and do another 2 hours or so and we close the place at 2 am and by the time we are ready to go the...and the pain is back with such a vengence that I ask the head bartender for directions to the local emergency room and we load up, I sign autographs and we are tearing up 385 to the St. Francis Hospital... after a painful 20 min wait a doc comes in, he gets the situation in a flash and comes back with a dropper... three drops and I scream like hell... and the pain literally vanishes... so we chat a bit, he gives me some drops and a perscription, I give him and his staff a poster and I wake the dude up in the waiting room and we are on our way.
