| Coming from Madison on the way north to Eau Claire I usually hit my super fav hideout in Lodi... but coming across from Milwaukee takes me a more direct way and I miss my lil' gem...but the Green Lantern and Dr. Bob are there when I arrive, and his three kids are running around and we set the stage and do a quick sound check and we're in heaven... ...the green lantern is a place that Dr. Bob created for the music community in winona and it is by far the coolest room in town... there are others, and I play those too, but Bob's is, hands down, the coolest... I finish around 2am and after the exact amount of coffee and a few cookies from the counter, I head out and hope to make the twin cities before first light... |

| ...coming from Winona on Hiway 61 north is a magical ride...3:30am, mississippi on the right, with freight-trains shooting past me on the left... this time it's a full, softlit moon and everything is cast in a silvery luminescence that washes all the dirt and grime off... all the reality drips away leaving a breathtaking landscape that looks like it was made just for me... a painting on a black velvet sheet that's just been lightly washed and hung out to dry... and after the Green lantern, the FineLine will be a big change... it's a cool but different kind of vibe, a newer room, a real rock hall made for the modern world with all the amenities and tech to go with it.... won't be using the cool smoke machine this time... |
