OMAHA, NE

... being so used to concrete and tight building and spaces, I was captivated by this unique church; as I went by it I heard clear singing and intense piano...

...but the desolate beauty of the urban landscape surrounding it was the most striking feature; and I got out and decamped in the small grass square to the left... the music had faded and there were just a few strains of it left by the time I sat down in the grass...

No one ever came out of the church and as it got darker, even the lights went dim and then, almost instantly, the sky darkened and then became a dull grey... slowly seeping into everything...a flat, and colorless, urban scene. Joyless. Vacant.

ROOM TO MOVE

All of this made me think of bob dylan... the gritty urban sights, the quiet, depressed neighborhoods that are always close to the interstate...

So many people in the urban areas seemed to be thinking of another place, anywhere but there, somewhere else, thinking of being and existing somewhere else... and so many didn't seem to know any other place was worth exploring... good for them.

As long as you know you are passing thru, most of this can't effect you until later, when you think about it, when you try to make some sense out of the images you've seen, and you start to think, contemplate the scene, while slowly extracting some meaning or message from the experience...
